CSU Study Abroad Scholarships

For all CSU study abroad scholarships, students must do the following:

  1. Submit a signed copy of the scholarship application (hard copies available at CIE),
  2. Request your official university transcript from enrollment services, to be sent directly to CIE,
  3. Attach a letter of acceptance to the program or confirmation e-mail from the program director,
  4. Prepare an essay of no more than 500 words describing your reasons for wanting to study abroad, including expected contribution to professional and personal development,
  5. Attach award letter (or printout from ISIS) of any financial aid that you receive
  6. Obtain up to two completed faculty recommendation form(s).  Take form to any CSU faculty who can recommend you for the program and request that it be forwarded directly to CIE or, pick it up in a sealed envelope and bring it to CIE yourself.

Scholarship Application Deadlines

Spring 2010 programs - submit applications by  Nov. 13, 2009.

Summer 2010, fall 2010, or academic year 2010-2011 programs -  March 18, 2010.

CSU Scholarships

Students apply for all of the below CSU scholarships by submitting one application. Download the scholarship application here.

Mildred Miller Fort Foundation Scholarship 

Program requirements: Study abroad or exchange anywhere in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Africa

Student requirements: Full-time CSU students, undergraduate or graduate, in good academic standing
Award amount: $250-$1,000, depending on the length of program, number of applicants and available funding

Nakai Fund for Asian Studies Scholarship

Program requirements: Study abroad for all locations in Asia, but not Australia or New Zealand
Student requirements: Full-time CSU students, undergraduate or graduate, in good academic standing
Award amount: $250-$1,000, depending on the length of program, number of applicants and available funding

Katherine and LeGrand Elebash Scholarship

Program requirements: Study abroad for all locations
Student requirements: Full-time CSU students, undergraduate or graduate, in good academic standing.  Preference will be given to honors students and students studying at Oxford University
Award amount: $250-$1,000, depending on the length of program, number of applicants and available funding

Campus Internationalization Scholarship and Kidd-Bagley Fund Scholarship

Program requirements: Study abroad for all locations
Student requirements: Full-time CSU students, undergraduate or graduate, in good academic standing
Award amount: $250-$1,000, depending on the length of program, number of applicants and available funding

Spencer Scholarship

Program requirements: CSU in Oxford Visiting Student Program
Student requirements: CSU in Oxford Visiting Student in good academic standing
Award amount: Up to $12,000

Additional (non-CSU) Study Abroad Scholarships

Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship
Programs from three months to three years in length
Funding available up to $25,000

Phi Kappa Phi Scholarship
Must have between 30-90 hours
GPA of at least 3.5

Boren Award
Programs in under represented areas

Georgia Consortium for International Studies
Students in majors related to International Studies
Funding available up to $300

Gilman Study Abroad Scholarship
Pell-eligible students
Programs for a semester or year in length
Funding available up to $5,000

Freeman-Asia Scholarship
Programs in Asia for eight weeks or longer
Funding available from $3,000-$7,000

Fulbright Award
For recent graduates and/or graduate students

Marshall Scholarship
Graduate study programs within the United Kingdom

Rhodes Scholarship
Graduate study programs at Oxford

Bridging Scholarship
Spring or fall semester programs in Japan
Funding available from $2,500-$4,000
