*Deadline Extended: Dec. 1st, 2009*Art in JapanThe Art of Textile in Japan is a study-abroad course where students will be introduced to various aspects of Japanese history, culture and aesthetic philosophies through weaving, dyeing and pattern design. Students will be required to attend several class meetings prior to and upon their return from Japan. The program is open to all students. Students will gain and demonstrate competence in art theory, critical thinking, aesthetics, and portfolio development. Program HighlightsStudents will be working on traditional Japanese looms from the 16th century with world-class instruction. The program includes trips to Tokyo and several museums in the area.
