Columbus State University and the Center for International Education are pleased to offer the International Student Service Scholarship to qualified undergraduate and graduate international students on an F-1 student visa. The International Student Service Scholarship is an out-of-state tuition waiver available to a limited number of international students who have been accepted to CSU, or are presently attending CSU. TSYS Department of Computer Science Graduate Assistantships

The TSYS Department of Computer Science at Columbus State University offers a limited number of 9-month departmental graduate assistantships. These can be both teaching and/or research assistantships. The graduate assistantship includes a stipend of $4,000 per semester for two semesters and a reduced tuition computed as full tuition minus $25. The stipend is paid in four monthly installments of $1,000 each semester. In 2007-2008, the tuition waiver was valued at $5,096 each semester for nine credit hours of coursework. The student is responsible for all fees, $25 tuition, health insurance, books, room and board, and any other personal expenses. The total aid from Columbus State University is approximately $18,192 for the academic year.

Judge John S. Averill Memorial Scholarship for MBA Students

An Averill Scholarship will be awarded to a Columbus State University MBA student in the spring 2008 semester. Awards are made year in amounts up to $1,500. Students wishing to be considered for the Averill Scholarship should submit an application letter to the MBA Director describing the applicant’s overall academic background and achievements. Undergraduate (and graduate if applicable) grade point averages and GMAT scores should be included. An applicant’s civic accomplishments, work background, and international experiences will also be considered. Students must be accepted into the MBA program at Columbus State University to be eligible for this Averill Scholarship.

The program focuses on issues critical to in improving the lives of the most vulnerable people in the developing world. The Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program awards fellowships to support innovative and imaginative post-graduate research in areas of socio-economic development. Issues of focus have spanned a range of economic, social, environmental, health and humanitarian sectors. To be eligible for an award, applicants must meet the following criteria: Applicants must be nationals and residents of member countries that are currently eligible to borrow from the World Bank. Applicants must hold at least a master’s degree or its equivalent at the time of application. The program does not finance doctoral studies. Anyone in a doctoral program who is awarded a fellowship must have received the degree before participating in the program. Normally, candidates should be 35 years old or younger. However, the program has interpreted this requirement with flexibility in the past and will consider exceptional candidates up to age 40. Ford Foundation
The Ford Foundation International Fellowships Program (IFP) provides opportunities for advanced study to exceptional individuals who will use this education to become leaders in their respective fields, furthering development in their own countries and greater economic and social justice worldwide. To ensure that Fellows are drawn from diverse backgrounds, IFP will actively recruit candidates from social groups and communities that lack systematic access to higher education. The International Fellowships Program provides support for up to three years of formal graduate-level study. Fellows will be selected from countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and Russia, where the Ford foundation maintains active overseas programs. U.S. nationals are not eligible, although fellows may study in the United States. The fundamental objective of the Regular Training Program is to promote the economic, social, and cultural development of the member States in order to achieve a stronger bond and better understanding among the peoples of the Americas through the advanced training of its citizens in the priority areas requested by the countries. The fellowships are awarded, with the exception of the medical sciences and related areas, and introductory language studies, for advanced study at the graduate level and graduate research. Citizens or permanent residents of OAS member States who hold a university degree and who meet the requirements to pursue advanced studies or research In the field chosen are eligible to request a fellowship under this program. Fellowships normally begin with the commencement of the academic year. Fellowships are granted initially for periods of up to twelve months. Fellowships may be extended upon request for a second period not greater than the initial period. In no case will a fellowship be extended for a total fellowship of more than two years. This is especially important for PhD candidates whose programs of study are of more than two years. The Special Caribbean Fellowships Program (SPECAF) is an instrument at the regional level for the financing of studies leading to a Bachelor’s degree at universities and other educational institutions in OAS member States. Studies may be undertaken in any of the member States of the Organization of American States, with the exception of the country of which the candidate is a citizen or permanent resident. . Fellowships normally begin with the commencement of the academic year. Fellowships are granted initially for periods of up to twelve months. Fellowships may be extended upon request for a second period not greater than the initial period. In no case will a fellowship be extended for a total fellowship of more than two years. Fellowship, scholarship, and training award programs are managed by the Division of Human Development of the Department of Information Technology for Human Development, Inter-American Agency for Cooperation and Development. The objective of the Science Fellowships program is to prepare for the long-term future by training young researchers. Science fellowships provide opportunities for scientists of NATO’s Partner countries to pursue their research work or continue their training in a NATO country, and vice-versa. There are a limited number of fellowships available in some countries for NATO-country scientists to study in another NATO country. The duration of the fellowships offered varies by type and country. The typical length of basic fellowships is one year, with renewal in certain cases; the duration of advanced fellowships ranges three to twenty-four months; and senior fellowships, three months. Each NATO country decides on the type of fellowship and the level of financial support it offers to individual fellows , as well as deciding on which scientific fields and professions it will support. The criteria for selection and the eligibility conditions therefore vary by country, but independent committees of senior scientists judge all applications on scientific merit. Science fellows usually choose the subject of research or study. The amount of a fellowship varies by country and depends on the length of tenure. Usually, NATO Science Fellowships cover travel and living costs, but not all countries offer all types of fellowships. Applicants from NATO countries should make inquiries of or submit applications to the National Administrator in the country of which they are nationals, regardless of present residence.
