Education in England:Teaching and Learning From a Global Perspective

This study abroad experience for Teacher Education majors will help support the objectives of the Dirversity in Education course "to prepare those entering the field of teaching for  the wide diversity of students they will encounter in their classrooms, schools and communities." This program is suitable for all students planning to teach, whether early childhood, middle grades or secondary education. The purpose of this program is to instill a broad worldview of education because of the increasing diversity that our present and future educational system will accommodate as well as allow students to have real world experiences to compare and contrast best practices in teaching and learning.

Program Goals

  • Familiarize students with the UK educational system and the various stakeholders involved
  • Introduce students to the principles and practice of curriculum development and syllabus design
  • Provide contemporary updates on specialist subject content and familiarization with current teaching methods
  • Provide opportunity to interact with counterpart students and to gain insight into communities of learning local to the University
